How Maui Brought Fire To The World

Today for Maori, we read a story called "How Maui brought fire to the world" and we have learnt different Maori words from this special story. We worked as a group discussing about what the story is about and shared it to our teacher Mrs Tui and to our class.

First Game on Term 3

The wind crashing past and I can see a lot of players feeling the cold and goosebumps showing. When the umpire blew the whistle, the game started and we were versing Sylvia Park Year 8 Maroons. On the first quarter, I didn’t play because I was a sub. Sylvia Park started off with the ball and they were really fast and fit.

Further more they had three points and we had nothing. The time was running fast, then the bell rang (for the end of the first half) so it’s half time. Salote and I exchange to be a Goal Defender for the rest of the game. Lupe our coach talked to us and giving us advice of how to throw the ball.

Just as Lupe finished talking to us, the bell rang again for the second half. We all ran inside and went to our positions. The umpire blew the whistle and St Pius started the round with the ball. We got the ball inside the circle where the Goal Shoot & Goal Attack is but then suddenly, this Sylvia Park girl (Goal Defend) snatch the ball.

While the ball was coming towards the other team I was really confused with my partner because  a lot of short kids were playing and I just didn’t realize which one is which.

Following on, Sylvia Park team scored a lot of scores and they were beating us. Meanwhile the bell rang and the game finished. The score was 14 - 6, I was pretty disappointed at myself because that night, I didn’t tried my best. But our team cheered happily at the end of that game.

Journey To A Beach House

During the holidays two of my aunties and I went to a Beach House. One of my aunties is a nun and we were going to their Beach House at Whangapouri. It was a long journey but luckily we got there before noon.

First of all we packed our stuff and I only took a small amount of clothes because we’re only going for four days. Following on we got in the car and our journey began. It was my first time going to Whangapouri so I felt excited about it.

One thing that excited me the most was seeing the Harbour Bridge. It looked amazing because the colour of the sky was just incredible - purple, yellow, red, and grey. I wanted to take a picture of it with my tablet but it was low battery.

Later, we got into a motorway and it was the longest motorway that I’ve ever been on. During the journey we went past a lot of farms & supermarkets. Therefore we decided to stop at one of them and we bought water.

Afterwards we continued on our journey. Later on  I felt a bit dizzy so I fell asleep. Meanwhile
I felt the car stopped so I woke up. When I did I saw this beautiful house standing tall towards the beach. I got out of the car and ran to see how beautiful the beach was. However I could also see buildings on the other side of the beach and they looked amazing and brightly lit in the dark sky.

After a while we went inside and started choosing our rooms and organising everything to be ready. I felt so delighted when I first entered the house and I knew that we are going to have an amazing time.

Subsequently I requested to one of my aunt if she wanted to play some cards and she accepted. We both agreed to play last card and we did. She was very challenging because I found it difficult to beat her but I tried my best though.

From time to time we had a lot of entertainment and I was so glad that I went with them there. I hope that another holiday we could revisit that beautiful spot.

Basic Facts Maths Practice

This term I think I improved my Basic Facts Maths Practice and next time I would like to improve much more.

John 5:1-16
Dear Heavenly Father, would you help me to forgive others in any situations and would you help me to get use to sharing foods and drinks to others that needs help. I ask you to forgive me in what I have done bad just like how you forgave those 5000 people that you fed

Lectio Divina Prayer

Today during Religious Education, we have been learning about what is Lectio Divina. We as a class had been working together and had found out different meanings about Lectio Divina. But firstly we read a small scripture from the Bible and it was a reading from the Colossians 3: 12 - 15, and after that we had to choose more than one words and write a short prayer about it. These are the words that relates to me and that caught my eye while we were reading the scripture. Although, they are the two words that I wanted God to help me with.

*Compassion - Dear Heavenly Father, You wanted us to show compassion and I would like you to help me show it and maybe others around me. Help me to also spread and develop everything that’s about compassion.

*Forgiveness - Dear Lord, help me to forgive others because that is my challenging part. Although can you help me to understand tolerance around people and to forgive them in any situation.
